Joye
B. Moore is an unanticipated dash of spice coming from the Inspirational
side of life. She is a very independent songwriter and vocalist who co-wrote
all the tracks and created a debut album that explores and celebrates
self-awakening, self-love and standing firm...mentally, lyrically and
musically.
Joye explains, The primary mission /goal of this album is to plant a seed
of self-love, self-worth and self-forgiveness. I want everyone to know
that God loves them just the way they are right now. “The songs
reflect my growing pains. Learning to love myself for who I am right now,
realizing that the only limitations I have are the ones I impose upon
myself; and that some of the most beautiful flowers bloom in the fall—that
it is never too late for Me and it’s never too late to find and
love You.”
This is also reflected in the album title, The Cocoon: Project Butterfly,
Phase II, which symbolizes the breaking free from cocoons that bind to
emerge fresh, beautiful and new.
“The title The Cocoon: Project Butterfly, Phase II, symbolizes the
breaking free from mental limitations that have held me bound and wouldn’t
let me fly. The metamorphosis process can be slow but I’ve come
to appreciate it and grow because of it,” she adds.
Setting a precedent with her style of “urban inspiration,”
Joye always loved music of all genres and draws upon a wealth of influences
from jazz to gospel, from funk to R&B. Her father loved gospel, her
grandmother adored jazz, and her mother country and blues; As a child
Joye’s ear was tuned to R&B. Since then she has grown up forming
a unique blend of Inspirational/R&B that is not duplicated and is
translated by her spirit through song.
Joye’s phenomenal talent was evident, after releasing a 4-song sa
mpler. This is reflected by the many accolades she has garnered long before
she ever released her first album. It all started when Joye released a
four song sampler. First she won “Showtime At The Apollo”
Amateur Night in 1998 only to follow that up with a nomination for the
"Excellence In Gospel Music Award" by the Richmond Gospel Announcers
Guild and the Gospel Music Workshop of America. And if that wasn’t
enough her next accolade came while performing and winning Richmond, Virginia’s
“Top 10 Acts” by Style Magazine in 1999. And then one of the
most prestigious of all came when Joye was chosen out of thousands by
the Kennedy Center’s Entertainment Roster for the year 2001.
Joye B. Moore is an artist primed for discovery.
