Stellar Award Winning Wilmington Chester Mass Choir Announces the Return of Reverend Christopher Squire
as the Choir’s Chief Executive Officer

On Tuesday, March 15, 2005 the Board of Directors of the Wilmington Chester Mass Choir announced Reverend Christopher Squire will return as the Chief Executive Officer of the organization. Squire served as the CEO from October 1989 through August 2000. In August 2000, Music Director, Minister Ernie Saunders, Chief Financial Officer/Business Manager J. Maxine Stroud along with Chairperson, Patricia Loper, led the organization. During this period, Squire served as a consultant/producer.

Due to the untimely death of Music Director, Saunders, the choir decided to once again ask Squire to lead the organization. “Rev. Squire has really never left the choir. He’s always been just a phone call away.” Stroud said. “He’s always loved the choir”, Stroud added.

“My goal is to continue the musical path begun by our late founder Rev. Ernest Davis Jr. and continued by our most recent Musical Director Ernie Saunders.” said Squire. “At the same time I want to infuse a little more ministry and community service into the ministry.”

The choir has performed and recorded with such gospel greats as the Rev. Daryl Coley, the late Rev. James Cleveland, Donnie McClurkin, Yolanda Adams, Kirk Franklin and Dottie Peoples.

“I am excited about the future for the choir. With the new project slated to be released late in the spring, I am predicting an exciting season for Wilmington Chester Mass Choir”, said Squire.

In 2000 Squire stepped down to from the CEO position to concentrate on his new job as Vice President/General Manager of 1340AM WHAT Radio in Philadelphia. Currently Squire is the Vice President of Operation at 1340AM WHAT’s parent company, ICBC Broadcast Holdings Inc. in New York.

Wilmington Chester Mass Choir was formed by the Rev. Davis in February 1978. The choir is comprised of members from, Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey. The choir has been nominated for 9 Stellar Awards, winning two. In 2000 the choir was nominated for a Grammy Award for best Gospel Choir Recording for the CD, “Hosanna, and they Sang the Word”.
