GRAMMY WINNING SONGWRITER & PRODUCER
DONALD LAWRENCE
RETURNS TO AIRWAVES WITH NEW CD LAW OF CONFESSION PT. 1
First Radio Single  "Back II Eden" Is Available on Itunes Now

Gospel's ground-breaking singer, songwriter and producer Donald Lawrence has taken a breather from creating hits for a who's who in gospel music to finally record his sophomore CD The Law of Confession, Part 1 (Quiet Water/ Zomba Gospel). His first solo set since 2004, the new project is set for a February 3, 2009 release. Inspired by the forthcoming book "The Law of Confession" by Bill Winston (shepherd of Chicago's Living Word Christian Center where the project was recorded live this past July), the collection revolves around a simple Biblical tenet.  "A law is simply a principle, based on the predictable consequence of an act," Lawrence says. "Confession in the Greek language is homo-logeo which means to say what has been said. There is a spiritual law for confession: you just say what God has already said...`Speak The Word.'"

The festive first single "Back II Eden" is already heating up at gospel radio stations nationwide and is available for purchase on Itunes. "This is the TRUTH," exclaims Matt Anderson, an on-air jock at Washington, D.C.'s WPRS 104.1 FM radio station.  "Can't wait to hear the whole project." Philadelphia's WPPZ 103.9 FM afternoon drive personality CeCe McGhee concurred by simply saying, "Donald I love it!"

This funky anthem with retro soul horn lines has a deep meaning for Lawrence. "This is pushing people to get back to our original design," Lawrence says. "God deemed for us a life of family, good health, wealth, spirituality and love...I'm reminding us of this principle and saying what are you waiting for? Let's get back to eden and live on top of the world." Check the song out on itunes at http://www.apple.com/search/ipoditunes/?q=donald+lawrence

Lawrence produced four out of the Top 5 songs on Billboard magazine's 2007 Year-End Hot Gospel Songs chart: "Encourage Yourself" by The Tri-City Singers, "Faithful is Our God" by Hezekiah Walker & the Love Fellowship Choir, "Let Go" by Dewayne Woods and "Blessed and Highly Favored" by the Clark Sisters. Since retiring from the Tri-City Singers in 2007, Lawrence has begun to do more solo work. This past fall, he hosted Verizon Wireless' "How Sweet the Sound" national choir competition and will reprise that role in 2009 as he embarks upon a number of new and exciting musical endeavors.
