CALL TO ACTION!!!!!!

THE MOVIE "AKEELAH AND THE BEE" WAS GIVEN TWO THUMBS WAY UP BY EBERT AND ROPER! HOPEFULLY YOU SAW LAURENCE FISHBURNE, ANGELA BASSETT AND KEKE PALMER ON OPRAH AND THEY WERE ALL RIGHT - "AKEELAH AND THE BEE IS A MUST SEE FOR ALL."

Hollywood will fill the theaters with violent and sometimes not so positive images when dealing with African Americans but finally a movie that focuses on the family, children, love, and learning how to believe in yourself. We see all types of people walking through life with low and sometimes even no self-esteem, which fuels many other problems in our communities. This movie not only is funny, smart, and entertaining but it just makes you feel good at heart.

We would love to ask you to take a moment to see "Akeelah and the Bee" this weekend so that we can send the message out loud and clear that our voices and dollars count. Everyone who has seen the film falls in love with Keke Palmer and the story. We can only hope and pray that you will see the film and tell your entire congregation to go out and support "Akeelah and the Bee."

We have to be responsible for our own images and the only way to do that is to show and prove.
